Summary: Google inaugurates ‘Ananta,’ a state-of-the-art, 1.6 million sq. ft. campus in Bengaluru, designed for sustainability and AI-driven innovation. Learn more about its features and Google’s vision for India.
A Landmark Expansion in India
Google has officially inaugurated ‘Ananta’, its largest office in India, located in Mahadevapura, Bengaluru. Spanning 1.6 million square feet, this cutting-edge facility was developed by Bagmane Tech Park over six years and customized for Google in just 11 months. With the capacity to house over 5,000 employees, this new campus significantly expands Google’s presence in India, where the company now employs around 10,000 professionals.
What Makes Ananta Unique?
The name ‘Ananta’, derived from Sanskrit, means “infinite” or “limitless”, reflecting Google’s commitment to innovation and growth. The office has been meticulously designed with a futuristic layout, offering a city-grid structure with team-based “neighborhoods” and a central amphitheater-style gathering area called Sabha, encouraging collaboration and creativity.
A Sustainability-Focused Campus
Sustainability is at the heart of Ananta’s design. The campus includes:
- One of India’s largest smart glass installations, reducing energy consumption.
- 100% wastewater recycling and rainwater harvesting to promote eco-friendly operations.
- Lush landscaped spaces, walking & jogging paths, and ‘Aranya’—a forest area that acts as a noise barrier.
- Locally sourced materials to align with India’s rich cultural and environmental ethos.
Google’s Growing Role in India
As Google marks two decades in India, it continues to drive digital transformation through AI-powered initiatives like:
- Flood forecasting technology for disaster management.
- Early tuberculosis detection to revolutionize healthcare.
- Financial inclusion via Google Pay, enhancing digital transactions across the country.
With Ananta, Google aims to deepen its AI research and innovation in India, supporting sectors like agriculture, healthcare, and finance.
“As India charts an ambitious new reality with technology, Google has been a proud partner for 20 years. The Ananta campus marks a significant milestone in this journey, aligning with the AI revolution,” said Preeti Lobana, Vice President & Country Manager, Google India, as per news agency ANI.
Google is also focusing on collaborating with Indian researchers, startups, and developers to fuel AI-driven advancements and train people with skills for the AI era.
The Road Ahead
Ananta is more than just a corporate office—it is a center for innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation. With this new campus, Google strengthens its commitment to making AI accessible and impactful for millions across India.
As AI shapes the future, Google’s Bengaluru office is set to be a key driver of India’s digital and technological evolution.
