A viral AI-generated Studio Ghibli-style image left a woman with an extra hand. Another AI mishap turned a sacred ritual into a bizarre scene.
AI Blunder: Woman’s Ghibli-Style Makeover Goes Hilariously Wrong with Extra Hand
Table of Contents
The internet’s latest fascination—the Studio Ghibli-style AI trend—has taken social media by storm. OpenAI’s advanced image-generation tool is turning ordinary pictures into stunning animated artworks. However, one woman’s AI transformation went hilariously wrong when the software unexpectedly gave her a third hand.
Ghibli AI Gone Wrong: The Extra Hand Incident
The woman initially uploaded a simple photo of herself sitting at a café, resting her face on both hands. But when she used OpenAI’s tool to reimagine the image in a dreamy, Studio Ghibli-style world, the result was far from perfect.
While the setting changed from a café to an open field with an ice cream shop in the background, one glaring mistake stood out—she had an extra hand holding an ice cream cone.
Taking the blunder in stride, she posted the image on Instagram with the caption:
“ChatGPT-Tumse na ho paayega..” (You’re not cut out for this). Shocked and funny, had to post it.”
Social Media Reacts
The post quickly went viral, drawing amused reactions from users.
“Wait… what… why three arms and hands?” one user commented.
Another joked, “ChatGPT knows there is a goddess in every Indian woman.”
A more technical explanation came from a user who speculated, “The chair legs near the table behind you form a cone-like shape—almost like an ice cream cone, which is causing GPT to hallucinate.”
Another AI Mishap: The Coconut Becomes a Human Head
Just as users were recovering from the extra-hand glitch, another AI-generated image surfaced, sending shockwaves through the internet.
During Chhath Puja, a festival celebrated in Bihar, a user attempted to convert an image of women performing religious rituals into a Studio Ghibli-style artwork. The original image depicted a group of women standing near the water, holding baskets filled with fruits, incense sticks, and coconuts as offerings.
However, AI misinterpreted one of the coconuts in the basket. The final output showed a woman holding what appeared to be a severed human head instead of a coconut, creating a disturbing yet unintentional horror scene.
How OpenAI’s Image Tool Works
OpenAI’s latest image-generation model, integrated into ChatGPT and powered by GPT-4o, is designed to create artistic and photorealistic images. While originally available only for premium users, OpenAI has now made it accessible to free-tier users with a limit of three images per day.
Despite its advancements, AI-generated images still struggle with certain complexities—such as correctly rendering hands and interpreting cultural elements in photos.
AI image-generation tools like OpenAI’s GPT-4o continue to push creative boundaries, but they also highlight the imperfections of machine learning models. While glitches like extra hands and misplaced objects can be amusing, they also raise questions about AI’s ability to fully grasp human intent and cultural context.
As technology improves, such errors will likely decrease—but for now, these quirky mistakes provide internet users with plenty of entertainment.
